THE HISTORY of SUNSET RANCH

In the annals of time, we discover the genesis of Sunset Ranch, a tale that unfurls in the year 1911. It was then that Richard Rodgers, a resilient Irish immigrant, cast his eyes upon the resplendent canvas of the Texas Hill Country. A journey that began in the bustling heart of Houston, where Rodgers crafted the majestic Capitol Hotel, the very first to grace downtown, and also lent his vision to the area just north of downtown, known as Sunset Heights.

Yet, the true essence of his Texan odyssey lay in the year 1911, when Rodgers, with a spirit as wild and boundless as the land itself, laid claim to a sprawling expanse of 23,000 acres northwest of Austin. As he gazed upon this terrain in those days of yore, the landscape bore a different countenance. At that juncture, the ranch nestled alongside the serpentine Colorado River, whereas today, it stands as a sentinel overlooking the North Shore of the transformed Lake Travis. Thus, the story of Sunset Ranch commenced its journey, forever intertwined with the ever-evolving tapestry of nature's majesty.

In the early 1980s, the vast expanse of this ranch was apportioned among five families of Richard Rodgers' lineage. Until recently, the 1,575 acres beneath our feet were entrusted to the stewardship of the Penn family, the great-grandchildren of Richard himself.

Today, as the torch of responsibility passes into the hands of Sunset Ranch Lago Vista, LLC, we stand as custodians of an enduring legacy. For four generations, this hallowed land has been tenderly nurtured by the Rodgers family and their descendants. It is our intent to honor their heritage and safeguard this magnificent terrain they've so lovingly tended for over a century and a decade.

Should fortune grant you the opportunity to set foot upon this sacred soil and behold the sweeping vistas of the Texas Hill Country and the serene waters of Lake Travis, you shall bear witness to the profound beauty of this hidden gem. The enchantment that abounds here is a testament to the devotion and reverence that has graced these lands for generations.
